About Acutro WM
Acutro WM provides water quality monitoring and compliance services for commercial buildings, hospitals and industrial facilities.
The challenge
What needed solving
Water quality management is compliance-heavy and highly specialised: engineers sampling in the field, labs processing results, assets spread across hundreds of sites, and strict regulatory requirements. Acutro was running all of it on spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
The hardest part was the domain itself - specialist terminology, regulatory constraints and operational edge cases, with little structured input up front. Someone had to model it.
We didn’t wait to be told what to build. We understood the domain and drove the architecture ourselves.
The solution
What we built
A three-person 2C team built the whole system from the ground up, in direct contact with the client. We took the time to understand water compliance properly, then turned its workflows into a structured system - designing the architecture, the domain model and the frontend ourselves, with minimal hand-holding.
The backend is a modular monolith in Node.js and Express on MongoDB, with clear domain modules, a dedicated authentication layer and audit logging. Managers, labs and clients use a React web app; field engineers use a React Native mobile app.
